Name: English professional language training (ICAO Level 4)
What’s this and what does it authorize to?
Without ICAO Level 4 exam you may fly only in the airspace of Hungary, independently whether you have an English language examination recognized by the state. The reason behind this is that an average English language training doesn’t contain expressions connected with flying, air traffic control and different kind of flight actions (starting, taxiing, take-off, approach and landing). So with the ICAO exam you may also fly outside Hungary, do international route-flights or you may fly through other country for example Slovakia and then land on your basis airport in Hungary.
Who and why?
The international language of flying is English. Maybe you can speak English well, maybe not, but sooner or later you will need exam as pilot. Not just because of the earlier listed reasons, but also because one day only those pilot may fly in the airspace of Hungary who has this exam. This training could be also important if you imagine your carrier as an airplane mechanic or air traffic controller. In the latter case it is a condition to have an ICAO Level 5 exam.

It’s very important, you have to renew your ICAO language exams from time to time. In the case of ICAO Level 4 (condition of flying aircraft) you have to renew it after 3 years. By ICAO Level 5 it means 5 years.
How can you start it?
You can start the language training either during your PPL or after it. It isn’t a condition to have experience in flying by the application for the training.

What’s the next?
With your ICAO Level 4 exam you might fly international route-flights also with a Cessna and with your other authorizations (PPL, NVFR, IR). If you want to make your fortune as a pilot, you need to know, that the theoretical training of the CPL (Commercial Pilot Licence) and the ATPL (Air Transport Pilot Licence) are in English, so the ICAO exam is a precondition. Because of the law obligations the airlines may employ anybody only with a ICAO (minimum) Level 4 exam as a First Officer, but of course who has a Level 5 or Level 6 (lifelong, not needed to be renewed) examinations are preferred by the airlines.
